Privacy at Troli

Troli is a South African service and handles personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Full policy coming soon. The summary below describes what Troli does today. Our complete privacy policy is being finalised and will replace this page.

What we collect

Your email address, your name if you give it to us, the shopping lists and baskets you build, and the location you choose so we can show you nearby stores. We do not ask for payment details.

Details we receive from a partner

If you reached Troli through a partner — an employer benefits programme, for example — that partner sent us your name and email address so you could sign in without filling in a form. We tell you this on the screen where it happens. We use those details only to run your Troli account.

What we send back to a partner

Aggregate numbers only — how many people arrived, and what categories of item were popular across the whole group. Never your email address, never your identity, and never your individual basket. Reporting is suppressed entirely when a group is too small for those totals to be anonymous.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or disconnect a partner from your account at any time. Disconnecting removes you from that partner's reporting entirely, including periods that have already been reported on, and stops them signing you in. You can reconnect later by arriving from that partner again and confirming an emailed code.

Connected partners are listed under Advanced Settings, where you can disconnect any of them yourself.
